The Rotary Club of Shasta Valley was chartered with 21 members in 2004. The club’s vision is to actively serve communities locally and globally by “Engaging in community service, supporting the tenets of Rotary International, and having fun in the spirit of fellowship. Projects and Accomplishments to date include: · Creation of “Shasta Valley Serves”, the club’s 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to raising money for the Rotary Club of Shasta Valley and its many projects · $10,000 committed for COS permanent scholarship endowment (on-going) · $500 COS Annual Scholarship & Project Amigo, Mexico Student Sponsorship · $10,000 committed to YMCA for Teen Center Juice Bar (on-going) · 475 “person hours” working on Habitat for Humanity Home in Montague & projects · Yearly grant to Sober Grad Night, Yreka High School, 3 Grants to Montague Fire Dept · Yearly District Simplified Grant - $1500 for Yreka Family YMCA, $1000 for the Juice Bar YMCA, current Stable Hands project · Guatemala World Community Service water project - $40,000 drilled well and pump · 2005 Centennial Project - Fairchild Medical Center for CD players &100 books on CD · Annual sponsorships for two YHS students to (Rotary Youth Leadership Academy) · Annual Boy Scouts Merit Badge College – vocational training · New Year’s Eve “Black Tie Optional” dinner/party 2003 thru 2007 · Annual Montague Balloon Fair starting in 2005 (Google “Montague Balloon Fair”) · Annual Most Improved Student, YHS and Student of the Quarter, Hornbrook · Annual Dictionaries to 3rd Graders · Annual Adopt a Greenway and clean up, 2008 plantings at Hospice House · 100% Paul Harris Club District and RI Recognition (all members PH Fellows) 2006 · Quarterly Local Community Financial Assistance Grants ($250/Quarter) 2006-2008 Ø Humane Society, Family Resource Center, Wool socks for CCC Members, Yearly Child Abuse Council, Fireworks, Softball · Montague Community Hall Electric Sign & Montague City Pool Improvement Project · WCS - Salcedo Computer Library, Dominican Republic · WCS - Mexico Mosquito Abatement · WCS - India School Well Project · Nyumbani Housing Materials Project – Africa · 2007-2008, $2000 to County Wide Bus Stop Project · 2008-2009 Rotary Competitive Simplified Grant for Stable Hands loading ramp · 2008-2009 World Community Service Project – Water filters to Guatemala
