Shots for Tots

The Douglas County Rotary Clubs held their 10th Shots for Tots Free Immunization Clinic on February 17 at the Roseburg High School. 243 kids received 665 immunizations for 11 vaccine-preventable diseases. The Rotary clubs provided 65 volunteers including 10 professional nurses supervising 16 student nurses giving shots.  Douglas County Health Department and Mercy Medical Center donated their expertise to the event. Numerous local businesses donate time and goods to the event.  Shots for Tots measures success through the annual state run immunization survey that measures the up-to-date rates on two-year-olds seen at the County Health Department. Most of these kids don’t have a medical home or health insurance.  Seven years ago, Douglas County had some of the lowest rates in the state. Today, we are above average with 78.7% of our two-year-olds seen in the Health Department up to date on their immunizations.

A major contributor for this event is Douglas County Independent Physicians Association.
