Duck Race for Children

The first annual Douglas County Duck Race for Children was held in 1998 at River Forks Park near Roseburg.

The Duck Race is a joint service project of the three Rotary clubs in Roseburg and the Sutherlin Rotary Club. All proceeds from the race are earmarked for donation to local non-profit organizations whose focus is on the prevention of child abuse in Douglas County. The proceeds are split between First Step, Family Development Center (nee Parents Relief Nursery), Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Safe Haven, and Douglas CARES. The 2007 Duck Race goal is raising $125,000 to help in the battle against child abuse.

The first-place winner receives $25,000 toward the purchase of a car from one of the Clint Newell Auto Group. All prizes and operating funds are donated so the entire proceeds from ticket sales is distributed to the selected organizations.
