Cottage Grove on Thursday, Mid Valley on Friday, Metro on Saturday
and Southtowne on Sunday. The Fair provides the support and two high

Clubs provide information about Rotary and their Rotary Club
activities, sell Duck Race tickets and an provide an adult
presence from 11:00 to 6:00 PM. The Lane County Fair runs from
Tuesday the 14th to Sunday the 20th of August.
Last year we had over 125,000 people take hand washing training and
use these facilities. A great joint effort between Rotary and the
Oregon Environmental Health Association. It is great to see our
Rotary wheel and District logo at all our Fairs.

District 5110 Rotary Clubs have funded two six sink mobile educational hand washing facility. We donated them to the Oregon Environmental Health Officers Professional Association, OEHA, to assist in the continuing need for health education. The facility is being used at County Fairs and other public gatherings where there is a need to stress the health benefits of proper hand washing after exposure to possible contamination - especially, contamination from animals. Our agreement with the OEHA includes that local Rotary Clubs will have a space at the Facility to promote their activities, give Rotary Clean Team stickers and other activities like selling Duck Race tickets. This year we had over 125,000 people use the facility. A great example of a public/ private partnership. The Lane County Health Office scheduled the Rotary Clean Team Facility at the Lane County Fair and asked that we assist in staffing to the facility. The Lane County Fair provided a location for the Facility. The Fair ran from the 16th to the 21st of August. The Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Camp Fire and other volunteers helped with two-person training teams. We provided adult supervision of the volunteers and promoted Rotary. Southtowne took the responsibility to pick up and return the facility and coordinate with the Lane County Health Office and the Lane County Fair. A different Club provided adult supervision to the facility each day. In addition, they displayed Rotary and Club material, answered questions about Rotary and sold duck race tickets at the facility. Many people thanked Rotary for making the hand washing facilities available. The Rotary Clean Teams were visited by over 125,000 people this year! A great public exposure. Clubs where there are County Fairs reported to the District Community that the Rotary Clean Team was their community service project. This District Program was finance with two Simplified grants by Roseburg and Southtowne and many direct club donations. This is a District wide program that would benefit by additional involvement of the area assistant governors.
